Parampreet made 225 off 128 balls (22x4s, 15x6s) as he helped his team to 355/3 in the allotted 40 overs at the Essex Farms Ground on Thursday

Parampreet Singh, the 28-year-old batsman who hit 150 in his previous DDCA Hot Weather League match and has scored 271 not out earlier in the season in DDCA League, turned out to be the rockstar on Thursday too as he hammered 225 for Radhey Shyam Cricket Club although his double ton wasn't able to save his team from a defeat to South Delhi Colts.
The tournament pits the best of clubs in Delhi cricket.
Parampreet made 225 off 128 balls (22x4s, 15x6s) as he helped his team to 355/3 in the allotted 40 overs at the Essex Farms Ground on Thursday. However, South Delhi Colts rode on 160 not out off 85 balls by Vishnu Gupta (17x4s, 5x6s) and half-centuries from Shiwam Kumar (58 off 51) and Yash Virat (81 off 51) to reach 358 and win the match by five wickets with two balls to spare.
"My game is attacking and I know if I play 40 overs, then I will definitely score a double hundred. I go in with the mindset that I have to bat till the end. If I score then my team will also benefit besides myself," said the batsman who hit most of his sixes straight down -- long on and long off -- and midwicket.
Parampreet's captain in the team is his 53-year-old father Parvinder who also bats and bowls seam up deliveries.
"There is some pressure when my dad is there outside. He always keeps saying, "aaraam se khel, aaraam se khel (play carefully)". But my game is attacking only, so I don't listen to him. Sometimes I mistime and he feels that I am being impatient. That is the only problem, nothing else," says Parampreet.
"I have been playing with my father for quite a few years. We have shared 100-run partnership, 150-run partnership. We know how to take the innings forward. It is rare to bat with your father. Not many people get to do that," adds Parampreet.
Brief scores: Radhey Shyam Club 355/3 in 40 overs (Parampreet Singh 225, Paramveer Singh 46) lost to South Delhi Colts 358/5 in 39.4 overs (Vishnu Gupta 160 not out, Yash Virat 81, Shiwam Kumar 58)
