
Delhi Branch members pay tribute to the legendary poet’s literary legacy, remembering his enduring contribution to Urdu ghazal, human values and contemporary literary thought

New Delhi: Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Delhi Branch) expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of celebrated Urdu poet, writer and intellectual Bashir Badr, describing his passing as an irreparable loss to Urdu language and literature.
During a condolence meeting, office-bearers and members of the organisation paid rich tributes to the literary, poetic and cultural contributions of the late poet and offered prayers for his eternal peace.
Association president Iqbal Masood Farooqui said that Bashir Badr was a shining star of Urdu ghazal whose distinctive poetry, simple yet impactful style and promotion of human values gave a new dimension to Urdu literature. He noted that with his demise, the Urdu world had lost a creator whose absence would be felt for a long time.
Secretary Idrees Ahmed described Bashir Badr's poetry as a reflection of love, tolerance and human relationships. He said the poet's verses enjoyed immense popularity among both the masses and literary circles and would continue to inspire future generations. He added that Bashir Badr's literary contributions would remain a treasured and historic asset of Urdu language and literature.
General Secretary Khurshid Alam said that Bashir Badr infused Urdu ghazal with contemporary sensibility and fresh meaning. Remembering him as a kind, gentle and literature-loving personality, he termed his death an irreparable loss to the literary world. He also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, students and admirers of the late poet.
The meeting concluded with special prayers for the departed soul, with members praying to Almighty Allah to grant Bashir Badr a place in His mercy and bestow strength and patience upon his family and loved ones.
