New Delhi: A dominant all-round display by Rohtak Road Gymkhana Girls and a batting masterclass from Armeet Kaur powered two emphatic victories in the ongoing 3rd Kalpana Chawla Girls Cricket Tournament at the Siri Fort Sports Complex and Gargi College Grounds respectively.
At the Siri Fort Sports Complex, Rohtak Road Gymkhana Girls defeated Faridabad United by seven wickets, thanks to a sensational bowling spell from Player of the Match Priya Mishra and explosive batting by Nidhi Mahto.
Batting first, Faridabad United were bowled out for 125 runs in 19.5 overs. Sakshi Lohia top-scored with 33 runs, while Kartavya Chaudhary contributed 28. Priya Mishra dismantled the batting line-up with outstanding figures of 4 for 17 in 8 overs, including three maiden overs. Mahi Chauhan and Neha Chillar chipped in with two wickets each.
In reply, Rohtak Road Gymkhana Girls chased down the target comfortably, scoring 126 for three in 19.4 overs. Nidhi Mahto starred with a blistering 64 off just 40 balls, smashing 14 boundaries and a six. She also made an impact with the ball, claiming one wicket for nine runs. Simran remained unbeaten on 21 to guide her side home. Priya Mishra was adjudged Player of the Match, while Bhavya received the Fighter of the Match award.
Meanwhile, at the Gargi College Ground, Bal Bhavan Girls Dwarka produced a commanding performance to crush Mount Girls Cricket Academy by a massive margin of 264 runs.
Batting first, Bal Bhavan Girls Dwarka piled up an imposing 309 for 4 in 35 overs, powered by a sensational unbeaten knock from Player of the Match Armeet Kaur. The star batter hammered 176 runs off just 108 deliveries, laced with 29 fours and two sixes. Apeksha Rawat added a valuable 50, while CV Sharma chipped in with 47 runs.
In response, Mount Girls Cricket Academy folded for just 45 runs in 20 overs. Mayuri led the bowling attack brilliantly with figures of four for 13, while Harshita claimed three wickets for 15 runs. Bhavna was the lone bright spot for the losing side with two wickets.
Following rest day on May 27, action resumes on May 28 with two matches scheduled from 8:00 AM onwards. Noida Wander Girls will take on Harry Girls Cricket Academy at the Gargi College Ground, while Run Star Girls will face S.M. Arya Cricket Academy at the Siri Fort Sports Complex.
