Batsman Avneesh Sudha, who left his home village of Garhi Negi Village in Uttarakhand to learn cricket at Dhansa Border under Narinder Gulia, powered to 132 off 103 balls (20x4s, 2x6s) and took 2/40, to help Pioneer Cricket Club enter quarterfinals of the 40th Laxman Das Chhabra Memorial Cricket Tournament being played at the St Stephen's Ground.

The 23-year-old Sudha, who represents Uttarakhand in the Ranji Trophy and was part of India under-19 in 2018-19, says he was inspired by India's 2011 World Cup win.
"I decided to take up cricket after India won the 2011 World Cup. I was inspired by it," says Sudha, who idolises Virat Kohli.
The opening batsman didn't just play conventional strokes like cover drive but also those like 'pallu' shots (ramp shots) and cuts.
"I love to play according to the situation."
Siddharth Choudhary (61), Vikram Mehra (49), Dev Parashar (47), Ghanshyam (47) played well from the losing side.
In another match thanks to all-round performance by Vikas Dixit, LB Shastri Cricket Club also reached the quarterfinals. Dixit scored 62 runs and took 3/58, Kaushal Suman made 58, Jonty Sidhu hit 40, Yatharth Singh took 3/32. LB Shastri Cricket Club hit 245/7 in 29 overs, winning by three wickets after bowling out Young Friends Club 244 in 37 overs. Aryan Kapoor (74) and Achintya (35) played brilliantly from the defeated team. Man of the Match award was given to Vikas Dixit.
