Central Delhi Kings beat Outer Delhi by four wickets in rain-hit 10-over game

New Delhi: Rain played spoilsport at the Delhi Premier League on Sunday, pushing back the scheduled 1:30 PM game between Outer Delhi Warriors and Central Delhi Kings by four hours. When the match finally got underway at 5:30 PM, it was snipped to a 10-over format game.

Central Delhi Kings won the toss and opted to field first, sending Outer Delhi Warriors into bat.

The Outer Delhi Warriors, led by captain Siddhant Sharma, got off to a rocky start, losing opener Priyansh Arya for four runs in the very first over. Following which Yajas Sharma posted 39 off 16 balls with four fours and two sixes before being caught and bowled by Gavnish Khurana.

Akshay Saini (31 off 15) fell in the sixth over, before Mohit Panwar (37 off 18) carried the innings forward. The duo finished with 68 runs between them before Panwar's wicket fell in the ninth over. Monu Shukla's unbeaten nine and Shivam Sharma's four not out got the Warriors to 130/5 in their 10 overs.

CDK’s Keshav Dabas led the bowling attack with 2/14 in his only over, while Arun Pundir, Gavnish Khurana and Tejas Baroka chipped in with a wicket each. The Warriors were restricted to a total of 130, a target that the Kings chased with one ball to spare.

Chasing 131, Siddharth Joon fell first, bowled for 13 off just six balls. Yash Dhull then made 35 off just 16 balls, with two fours and three sixes, before falling to Shivam Sharma in the sixth over. Jonty Sidhu, Yugal Saini, Aditya Bhandari and Keshav Dabas all fell in a stretch between the 7th and 8th overs that landed the Central Delhi Kings in trouble at 88 runs with six wickets down.

Vansh Bedi had other ideas. With just over three overs left in the innings, he smashed an unbeaten 47 off just 16 deliveries, including three fours and five sixes. Money Grewal assisted in the final leg of the game with an unbeaten seven off four and the Kings completed the chase with 133/6, winning by four wickets and a last ball to spare.

Aman Chaudhary (2/15) and Pratham Saluja (2/26) did the early damage for the Warriors, accounting for four of the six wickets to fall in the chase. Meanwhile Siddhant Sharma, who bowled the first over, gave away 17 runs. Navdeep Saini leaked 40 runs across his 1.5 overswithout taking a wicket including 19 in the final over, which helped the Kings push past the total.

In the second match of the day, New Delhi Tigers rode on Lakshay Thareja's 86 not out off 57 balls to score 178/8 in 20 overs. They then restricted East Delhi Riders to 129/9. Pace bowler Pradyuman Sanan took 2/25 while Laxman picked 2/26. Hrithik Shokeen, who is taking the new ball in this edition, turned in an economical spell of 1/9 in three overs.
