Delhi Under-19 team trials' first phase gets underway

Every team will be given three matches each. There will be a total of 120 matches played over weekdays

As many as 84 teams, divided into 21 pools, are participating in the trials for the Delhi Under-19 team that got underway on Wednesday, September 10.

“Every team will be given three matches. There will be a total of 120 matches played and these will be held on weekdays. The trials will be completed within 15 days,” said Ahmad Tameem, Co-Chairman of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) League and Tournament Committee.

“About 144 players will be shortlisted from the trials and they will be divided into 12 teams. They will then play two-day games and the DDCA selectors will pick the final squad from the performances in those matches.”

Some of the clubs are yet to fill in the forms so the association has put out schedule only for the first three days.

Here are the rules of the tournament:

  • Total No. of Clubs is 84.
  • Tournament shall be played on League basis, 3 league matches for each team of 50 overs.
  • Matches will be played in White dress & Red balls.
  • Two new balls will be used at both ends in one inning. Total 4 New Balls for One match.
  • Only Delhi born / residents can play these matches.
  • Cut of date is on or after 01-09-2006.
  • Clubs should provide player's MCD Digital certificates, Aadhar Card and school certificate as Date of Birth proof as per BCCI guidelines.
  • Matches shall start at 8:00 AM and reporting time shall be 7:30 AM and Toss 7:45 AM.
  • In 50 overs match each bowlers can bowl maximum 10 overs.
  • There will be no POWER PLAY for Under-19 matches.
  • For Interrupted matches- match will be continued from the last over bowled. For example in case 20 overs are completed in the first innings and the match is stopped due to rain or any other reason, the match will continue from there only and the remaining overs of the first inning will be completed. Similarly, if the match is stopped in the second inning due to rain or any other reason, then full quota of 50 overs will be completed or until the team gets all out (the inning is finished).
  • Hours of Play: 08.00 AM to 11:30 AM for 1st Innings; 11:30 AM to 12:10 PM will be Lunch; 12:10 PM to 03:40 PM for 2nd Innings. In case of bad weather or unavoidable causes, to complete minimum overs, extra time is of One Hour till 04:40 PM for completion of the overs.
  • If the team batting first got all out, the team batting second will play the full quota of 50 overs in spite of overtaking the first team's total. Matches will be played on No win No loss basis unless & until teams will be all-out.
  • The tournament committee can change venues and dates of matches under special conditions like weather and ground availability.
  • Two Super Subs are allowed in the match.
  • BCCI code of conduct & playing conditions are applicable.
