The seven-match unbeaten run of the Delhi senior women’s team ended in the semi-finals after the team lost to Railways by eight runs.

Delhi women made 228/9 in 50 overs in reply to Railways’ 236/5 in 50 overs. Pratika Rawal top-scored with 62 runs and Ayushi Soni made 42 not out. Railways women had reached their 236-run mark on the back of 96 not out from Mona.

Delhi had earlier thrashed Nagaland by 400 runs in their opening game on January 6. Delhi whacked 455 with the help of record 242 from Shweta Sehrawat – highest ever in women’s domestic one-dayers -- and 101 by Pratika.

They bowled out Nagaland for 55 in 24.4 overs.

Delhi then defeated Andhra by 150 runs, Baroda by 123 runs, Kerala by 105 runs, Himachal Pradesh by 130 runs, Sikkim by nine wickets and Vidarbha by eight wickets (bowled out Vidarbha for 28).

Delhi women had reached the finals and finished runners-up in the T20 competitions of under-23 and under-15 levels.

The women’s performances have been the lone bright spot as the men have flattered to deceive at every level.

“We have to thank the coaching staff. We all knew our roles and we did them to the best of our ability,” said Pratika Rawal, who was part of the under-23 side also along with Shweta Sehrawat and a few others.
