Farmers to join Jantar Mantar protest on July 27; CJP plans legal action against police

New Delhi: The ongoing students' protest at Jantar Mantar is set to gather further momentum with the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) announcing that it will join the agitation from July 27, while the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) said it would initiate legal action against police personnel accused of assaulting protesters during the demonstrations.

According to PTI, CJP leader Saurav Das said the party was launching a dedicated website to collect evidence against police personnel allegedly involved in attacking protesters.

"We are launching a website where injured protesters and those who were assaulted by the police can upload pictures of the police personnel involved. We will file complaints against them and move the court if the Delhi Police does not register FIRs," Das was quoted as saying by PTI.

The announcement comes days after clashes at Jantar Mantar, where protesters alleged that several students were injured during police action. CJP has maintained that it will pursue legal remedies against officials identified through the submissions received on the portal.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) announced its support for the students' movement, stating that its members would march to the national capital on July 27. The farmers' union said its cadres would remain in Delhi until the students' demands are accepted.

In a separate statement, the CJP accused the Delhi Police of preventing people from participating in the protest and demanded that such actions stop immediately.

"The Cockroach Janta Party demands that the Delhi Police immediately cease and desist from unlawfully detaining, intimidating or preventing citizens from reaching Jantar Mantar and refrain from creating an atmosphere of fear and siege around Jantar Mantar," the party said.

The developments are expected to intensify the agitation, with the participation of farmers likely to increase pressure on the authorities as the protest enters another phase.
