New Delhi: As many as 59 members of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA), now known as Football Delhi, convened an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Sunday and announced that the association's long-awaited elections will be held by August 30, 2026. There are 80 members in the governing body.

The members also constituted a three-member ad hoc committee comprising B.S. Mehra, Liaquat Ali and Susanto Deb to oversee the functioning of the association until the elections, a move that effectively limits the authority of the incumbent president, Anuj Gupta. Magan Singh Patwal is the office secretary and will also take part in ad hoc committee meetings with the three members.

"As many as 12 of the 21 members of the DSA Executive Committee resigned while two others have died. This has left the committee without the quorum required to convene official meetings. Therefore, the Executive Committee (EC) has ceased to exist," said an official.

"The Anuj Gupta-led EC's term had ended on March 19. Despite that it had called a meeting on May 24 to form an ad hoc committee. But on May 23 night, they said the meeting won't be held as the AIFF has declared the earlier mail announcing the meeting null and void. However, the AIFF clarified that it had not sent any mail to stop the meeting. The mail was, therefore, bogus. Anuj Gupta needs to answer this."

Till the time the elections are held, no football will be played. Football Delhi, earlier known as Delhi Soccer Association (DSA), was planning to start its new season soon. But that has been delayed till August 30.
