Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President CK Khanna has termed Indian women cricket team’s World Cup win as a ‘golden chapter’ in Indian women’s cricket.

The Indian women’s cricket team created history by winning the World Cup for the first time. After being runners-up twice before, India played brilliantly in the final match and defeated South Africa by 52 runs to lift the trophy.

Khanna recalled, “In 2017, when I was the Acting President of BCCI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited the runner-up team to his residence. He encouraged all of us and gave the players confidence to aim for victory in the future.”

CK Khanna has served DDCA for 50 years

Khanna, who has has been associated with the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) for 50 years, said that this inspiration became the foundation for today’s success.

“During his term as BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah supported women’s cricket strongly and helped it grow in a new direction. This win is the result of that continued effort,” he added.

He said the win is not just about cricket but also about faith, hard work, and the spirit that lives in every Indian daughter.

“Our girls have made the country proud. They have not only won the World Cup but also written a story of pride and inspiration for every Indian,” Khanna said.
