Gargi College mauls opponents, clinches Delhi University Inter-College cricket title

New Delhi: Gargi College once again emerged as the unbeaten champion in the Delhi University Inter-College Cricket Tournament 2025–26.

The tournament was organised by the Delhi University Sports Council from January 5 to 9, 2026.

A total of 12 teams registered in the tournament. Gargi College delivered an exceptional performance throughout the competition. In the knockout match, Gargi College defeated Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College by 10 wickets to qualify for the league stage.

In the league phase, Gargi College played three matches and dominated all opponents convincingly. In the first league match against Lakshmibai College, the host team was bowled out for 50 runs, and Gargi College chased the target in 11.1 overs, losing only two wickets, to win the match by eight wickets.

In the second league match against Jesus and Mary College, the opposition was bowled out for 70 runs, and Gargi College secured victory by seven wickets, losing just three wickets.

In the final league match against Sri Venkateswara College, the opposition team was dismissed for a mere 37 runs. Gargi College chased the target in just 5.1 overs and won the match by 9 wickets.

Outstanding bowling performances were delivered by Antra Sharma, who claimed 10 wickets and Mahi Chauhan, who took 9 wickets during the tournament.

Remarkably, no team in the tournament managed to score more than 70 runs against Gargi College, a rare achievement in Delhi University cricket history.

As a result of this dominant performance, five players from Gargi College, Nishtha Bisht, Shivangi Tyagi, Mahi Chauhan, Rajshri Yadav and Tiya Bidhuri were selected for the Delhi University team to represent the university at the North Zone Inter-University Tournament 2025-26.
