Punjab defeated Gujarat by 56 runs in the final to emerge winners of the Men’s Under-23 State A Trophy at the Jadhavpur University Second Campus at Salt Lake in Kolkata.

Punjab amassed 317/8 in 50 overs with opener Harnoor Singh scoring 100 off 103 balls. Fifties from captain Uday Saharan (59 off 75) and Risham Satyawan (68 off 39 balls) also bolstered the Punjab total. Saharan was the India captain in the Under-19 2024 World Cup.

The left-handed batsman had represented the Union Territory of Chandigarh last season before switching to Punjab for the 2024-25 season. He was part of the India team that won the 2022 under-19 World Cup.

By the time he left the crease Punjab were 206/3 in the 38th over.

The response from Gujarat was guarded at the start with the west Indian state moving 89/1 in 21 overs. Opener Aarya Desai made 76 off 99 balls and skipper Priyesh scored 63 off 46.
