India colts lose to Pakistan in U19 Asia Cup

The Pakistan colts scored 281/7 in the allotted 50 overs with left-handed batsman Shahzaib Khan scoring 159 off 147 balls; the India youngsters were bowled out for 238 in 47.1 overs

India under-19s went down to Pakistan under-19s by 43 runs in the U19 Asia Cup in Dubai on Saturday.

The Pakistan colts scored 281/7 in the allotted 50 overs with left-handed batsman Shahzaib Khan scoring 159 off 147 balls (5x4s, 10x6s). Karnataka medium-pacer Samarth Nagaraj took 3/45 while Mumbai off-spinner picked 2/30 to return as the most successful bowlers.

Shahzaib shared an opening partnership of 160 with Usman Khan (60).

The India colts began scoring quickly, but lost two early wickets in the process. They were 28/2 in four overs. Soon they lost the third wicket of C Andre Siddarth in the 12th over with the total on 51.

Skipper Mohammed Amaan fell as the fourth wicket with the score on 81 and it was an uphill task from there.

The India youngsters were bowled out for 238 in 47.1 overs. Nikhil Kumar top-scored with 67 off 77 balls and was really the lone batsman to hold fort. Mohammed Enaan slammed 30 off 22 at the end to give some respectability to the total.  

Abdul Subhan and Faham-ul-Haq picked two wickets each for Pakistan.

Shahzaib was adjudged Player of the Match.

In another match, UAE U19 (325/7) thrashed Japan U19 (52) by 273 runs.

India next play Japan on December 2.
