Keshav Dabas fifty breaks East Delhi Riders' unbeaten run

The Central Delhi Kings batsman scores 52 not out of 27 balls and shares key 60-run partnership with Aryan Rana to take the team to an important victory

Keshav Dabas’s 52 not out off 27 balls helped Central Delhi Kings (CDK) beat East Delhi Riders (EDR) by five wickets in a come-from-behind-effort in a Delhi Premier League match on Tuesday.

After the Riders had scored 172/5 in 20 overs, and reduced the Kings to 74/4 in the 10th over, it seemed that the Riders would coast to their sixth successive win. However, Dabas shared a gritty 60-run partnership off 40 balls with Aryan Rana to put Central Delhi Kings on track.

Dabas, who plays for Golden Hawks in the DDCA League, then blitzed to a quick 37-run partnership off eight balls with Sumit Kumar to see the team through.

The Kings took 27 runs off Bhagwan Singh’s second over, the innings’ 17th. Bhagwan had bowled an economical first over, giving away three runs, but he was brought in for his second only in the 17th and missed the trick, bowling two no-balls.

Dalal’s innings of 31 off 18 balls ended in the ninth over, and Sidhu (15 off 18) followed him back to the pavilion in the very next over, leaving Central Delhi Kings at 75/4 at the halfway stage.

Earlier, skipper Himmat Singh’s 63 off 33 balls and Anuj Rawat’s 61 off 44 guided East Delhi Riders to 172/5.

Brief Scores

East Delhi Riders 172/5 in 20 overs (Himmat Singh 63 off 33, Anuj Rawat 61 off 44, Keshav Dabas 2/20) lost to Central Delhi Kings 173/7 in 17.5 overs (Keshav Dabas 52* off 27, Hiten Dalal 31 off 18, Mayank Rawat 1/15)
