Mayank Rawat lights up the league with six sixes in an over

Rawat, who was part of Delhi squad in BCCI domestic cricket this season and was playing his first Delhi and District Cricket Association league match in the 2024-25 season, hammered those sixes off left-arm spinner early in the innings as his team chased the 121-run target in 13.5 overs

Mayank Rawat hit six sixes in an over, scoring 76 runs off just 34 balls (7x4s, 7x6s) to help NK Khanna beat Young Association by nine wickets in a DDCA League match at the Talent Sports Complex.

Rawat, who was part of Delhi squad in BCCI domestic cricket this season and was playing his first Delhi and District Cricket Association league match in the 2024-25 season, hammered those sixes off left-arm spinner early in the innings as his team chased the 121-run target in 13.5 overs.

Young Association had been dismissed for 120 in 25.2 overs. Sampoorn Tripathi picked 4/28 while Mayank Arora took 3/11.

“This was my first match in the DDCA League this season. I had played the DY Patil T20 tournament and had a couple of good matches, including scoring a 90-odd in the second match,” said Rawat to www.thedelhijunction.com

Rawat represented Delhi in nine matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament in what was his breakthrough season as he failed to get a single match in the 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons in which he was part of the squad.

The fact that he got to play only a few deliveries per innings this time around means that he got very few opportunities to perform. Although he did do well in whatever limited opportunities he got, like in the match against Haryana.

Rawat played one Ranji Trophy game and none in Vijay Hazare Trophy. Prior to that, he had a good performance in Delhi Premier League in which he scored 289 runs at 72.25 and took 11 wickets at 16.64.

“I hit two sixes over mid-wicket, three over long-on and one over long-off in the left-arm spinner’s over. The sixes came early in the innings,” said Rawat.

The Talent Sports Complex ground in Chhavla where he hit the six sixes is of 65 metre to 70 metre range, which means that it needed some effort.

Rawat, however couldn’t perform in the next match against Young Cricketers in which he was dismissed for one. However, that too was a low total and NK won it with ease.
