Pace bowler Navdeep Saini rose to the occasion with 4/37 and off-spinner Hrithik Shokeen picked 3/26 to help Delhi defend 211 and defeat Madhya Pradesh (MP) by 79 runs in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad.

Batting first, Delhi were bowled out for 211 in 48.4 overs with Anuj Rawat top-scoring with 78 off 103 balls. Sarthak Ranjan, who opened the innings made 41 off 68 balls, while Shokeen who walked in at No. 3 made 28 off 22 balls.

Mayank Gusain who batted at No. 7 scored 22 off 32 balls.

Kumar Karthekiya and Kulwant Khejroliya, who had played for Delhi earlier, and Sagar Solanki took two wickets each.

MP began well, adding 68 for the first wicket which pushed Delhi onto the backfoot.

But then Shokeen and Prince Yadav removed the openers Harsh Gawali and Subhransu Senapati while Shubham Sharma was run out as Delhi found a way in.

It was then that Saini ran through the MP middle-order with four wickets to reduce them to 115/7.

Prince Yadav took 2/22.

Delhi are now placed third in Group E with one win and one loss from two matches. Delhi had lost to Bengal in the tournament opener.
