New Delhi: A new political outfit, the 'E20 Janta Party', has emerged on social media, days after the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) grabbed national attention with its agitation over the alleged NEET paper leak that culminated in the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Unlike the CJP, whose campaign centred on education reforms, the E20 Janta Party has launched a movement against the Centre's ethanol-blended fuel policy, demanding that consumers be given the option to purchase pure petrol (E0) alongside ethanol-blended variants.

The party, which currently operates primarily through social media, has witnessed a rapid rise in its online presence. Within 24 hours of its launch, its X (formerly Twitter) account gained around 50,000 followers, while its Instagram handle crossed the 100,000-follower mark.

Explaining its demand, the E20 Janta Party said on X, "Just make E0 petrol available at petrol stations and let people choose voluntarily between E0, E20 or E85. That would end the problem itself. If someone wants E0 petrol for his non-compliant car, let him have it! Forced feeding should stop ASAP. There should not be price difference as well."

Describing itself as a citizen-led campaign, the party said it seeks greater transparency and consumer choice over the government's ethanol-blending programme.

"E20 Janta Party is a people-powered movement demanding transparency, accountability, and the right of every Indian to know how the E20 (20% Ethanol Blended Petrol) policy affects their vehicles, wallets, and consumer rights," the organisation said in another post.

The outfit also celebrated crossing the 100,000-follower milestone on Instagram with a message thanking its supporters.

"E20 Janta Party has crossed 100K followers on Instagram! This milestone belongs to every single person who shared a post, left a comment, reposted, or raised their voice. Thank you for standing with us," it posted on X.

The emergence of the E20 Janta Party comes amid growing online discussions over the impact of ethanol-blended fuel on older and non-compatible vehicles. While the movement has so far remained confined to social media, its rapid growth has attracted public attention and sparked debate over consumer choice in India's fuel policy.
