New Delhi: Noida witnessed a surge of excitement as the official press conference for Matrix Fight Night 18 set the stage for one of the country’s most anticipated mixed martial arts events. With over 50 media outlets in attendance, the event offered a comprehensive preview of a fight card that has steadily captured national attention.
Leading the proceedings was Ayesha Shroff, who anchored the session with confidence and clarity. Drawing on her extensive experience of building the promotion over seven years, she introduced the fighters, addressed media queries, and outlined the significance of the upcoming bouts, ensuring strong engagement from the press.
A key highlight of the press conference was the face-offs between fighters, which brought an added layer of intensity to the proceedings. The exchanges underscored the competitive rivalries and preparation behind each matchup, offering a glimpse into the high stakes involved.
The fight card is headlined by a strawweight title clash between Sonam Zomba and Brazil’s Maristela Alves, alongside a lightweight title bout featuring Digamber Singh Rawat and Angga. Other notable matchups include Shyamanand vs Avizo Lanamai and Manoj Yadav vs Besii Ariiji in the featherweight division; Mandeep Prajapati vs Yuki Angdembe and Sahil Rana vs Peter Danesoe at bantamweight; Aminder Bisht vs Rabi Panjshiri and Dinesh Naorem vs Sunatullov Azizov at flyweight; and Sandeep Dahiya vs Kevin Church at light heavyweight. Additional bouts include Abdul Kahaf vs Aman Kumar Lahar and Abhishek Negi vs Anthony Syiem, while Jyoti Kalita faces Purushoth Kumar at welterweight and Riya Thapa takes on Shalini Solanki in another strawweight contest.
With 13 bouts, including two title fights, the scale of the event reflects the rapid growth of mixed martial arts in India. The strong turnout of media organisations further highlighted the sport’s increasing mainstream appeal.
The press conference also emphasised the evolution of Matrix Fight Night as a premier MMA platform, developed by Ayesha Shroff along with Krishna Shroff and Tiger Shroff.
MFN 18 is scheduled to take place on SAturday (May 2) at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, Greater Noida, with the event set to stream live from 6 PM on JioHotstar and on the promotion’s official YouTube channel for international audiences.
