Yash Dhull's ton takes Central Delhi Kings to facile win

New Delhi: Central Delhi Kings' strong campaign in the Delhi Premier League 2026 continued unbeaten, as they beat Purani Dilli 6 by nine wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.

The match, originally scheduled for a 1:30 PM start, was pushed back by rain and trimmed to a 15-over game. Central Delhi Kings (CDK) won the toss and opted to bowl.

Purani Dilli 6's innings got off to a pretty bad start. Pace bowler Money Grewal cut through the top order, and Purani Dilli 6 slipped to 55/5 inside the first nine overs, losing Aryan Gaur, Dev Lakra, Anuj Rawat, Lalit Yadav and Samarth Seth for low scores.

From there, however, Rohan Rathi and Ashwini Chillar steadied the innings, putting on an 85-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Rathi played the aggressor, smashing 46 off just 21 balls, while Chillar anchored the innings with 34 off 29, with five extras.

Both fell in the final over, dismissed off consecutive balls, at 14.5 and 14.6. Purani Dilli finished off their innings 140/7 at the end of 15 overs.

Money Grewal was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/22 from his three overs.

Gavnish Khurana chipped in too, picking 2/22. The chase for Central Delhi Kings was set at 141 runs from 90 balls, a target that star player Yash Dhull single-handedly chased. Playing as an Impact Player, Dhull batted through the innings and made an unbeaten hundred. He reached his century off just 47 balls, hitting six fours and nine sixes.

He first added 60 with wicketkeeper Siddharth Joon, and after Joon fell for eight, Dhull continued his spell with Yugal Saini. Dhull along with Saini (27 not out off 21 balls) put on an unbroken 81 for the second wicket. The two completed the chase with 10 balls to spare.

Dhull, who has been picked in the North Zone squad for Duleep Trophy, stayed unbeaten till the end, scoring the winning runs on his final ball and simultaneously completing his century.

In a post match interaction, CDK’s Money Grewal had high praise for his teammate's match-winning innings.

“Yash is the kind of player who takes responsibility and wins matches for the team. As long as he is at the crease, we always believe we are in the game, regardless of the target. He has been in outstanding form,” said Grewal.

At the same time, the right-arm pacer also spoke of his own bowling effort, disclosing his plan of staying aggressive and hitting good areas in the death overs.

“Our plan at that stage was to keep attacking and bowl in the right areas during the death overs. We knew that if we could pick up a few more wickets and expose the new batters, it would become difficult for them to score freely. I just focused on executing my plans, and thankfully it worked for us,” he added.

The result marks CDK's fourth win from four matches this season, keeping them unbeaten.

For Purani Dilli 6, it's a second defeat in three matches, and they are set to play their fourth match of the season on August 11, against New Delhi Tigers.

In the second match of the day, left-handed batsman Sujal Singh's unbeaten 82 off 50 balls (6x4s, 4x6s) for East Delhi Riders went in vain as Sarthak Ranjan's 95 off 50 (7x4s, 8x6s) and Yash Bhatia's unbeaten 53 off 34 balls (7x4s, 1x6) took North Delhi Strikers to a six-wicket win.

East Delhi Riders had scored 171/6 in 20 overs. In response, North Delhi Strikers achieved the target in 16 overs.
