DDCA launches much-awaited Women's T20 Tournament

As many as 41 clubs registered with DDCA are participating in this tournament, entering the field with the resolve to give a new direction and identity to women's cricket

A new chapter was added to Delhi cricket on Monday after the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) launched the DDCA Women's T-20 Tournament for women cricketers for the first time.

This is a historic occasion, an important step towards women empowerment. The first match of this important initiative was played between RPCA and N.K. Khanna Club at the Modern School grounds at Barakhamba Road.

As many as 41 clubs registered with DDCA are participating in this tournament, entering the field with the resolve to give a new direction and identity to women's cricket.

The chief guest of the opening ceremony of the tournament was Sangeeta Jaitley, wife of former DDCA President and India's Finance Minister, late Arun Jaitey.

While encouraging the women players, she said, "This is not just a tournament, but a platform where hard work and self-confidence will be truly tested. I am confident that this event will remain a symbol of inspiration and enthusiasm for years to come."

Shikha Kumar, the DDCA Vice President and a staunch supporter of women's cricket, said, "There was a great need for this tournament. DDCA President Rohan Jaitley constantly encouraged us into starting this and it was possible with the full cooperation and support of the Apex Council. This tournament is a great opportunity for women players. I am confident that the players who will perform well in this tournament will be seen representing India, Delhi state team, and participating in Women's Delhi Premier League or Women's IPL in the future."

DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma welcomed all the guests who attended the function and while wishing all the players, announced that DDCA will provide dress to the players of all the teams participating in this tournament.

Many people associated with Delhi cricket attended the inaugural ceremony.

DDCA Apex Council Member Renuka Dua, Women's Cricket Director, and Cricket Advisory Committee Member Anjali Sharma were also present along with CK Khanna, the former BCCI President; Ravinder Manchanda, former DDCA Treasurer; Shashi Khanna, former DDCA Vice President; and DDCA Directors Navdeep Malhotra, Shyam Sharma, Vikas Katyal, Tushar Sehgal, Vikram Kohli. Everyone praised this initiative and called it a historic step for Delhi cricket, which will provide a strong base to women's cricket at the grassroots level.
