The selection committee meeting for the Delhi Under-23 team got off to jittery start following ‘intrusion’ from directors Manjit Singh and Anand Verma and treasurer Harish Singla.

The meeting on Tuesday was convened by DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma and included selection committee members Yashpal Singh, KP Bhaskar and Manu Nayar and Ranji Trophy team Head Coach Sarandeep Singh.

“The directors or treasurer are not supposed to sit in the meetings. They had intruded the meeting,” said Sharma to the www.thedelhijunction.com.

They objected to the presence of Sharma in the meeting saying that the secretary is not allowed to sit in the meetings just as previous secretary Siddharth Sahib Singh Verma was barred from sitting in the meetings.

Asked about the matter, Sharma pointed out that Siddharth Verma was not allowed because of conflict of interest.

“Secretary always convenes the meeting,” said Sharma.

Manjit Singh, when asked about the matter, said that we had received a complaint that Sharma was sitting in the meeting despite express orders in Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) Articles of Association (AoA) and the order of Ombudsman in the case of Siddharth Sahib Singh.

“It is there in the AoA. The Ombudsman has also said that the director and Office-Bearer cannot attend selection committee meeting. We went just to warn that they are doing the meeting illegally. They again met on Wednesday. This is illegal/”

Sharma, however, insisted that the secretary has always convened the selection committee meeting and the exception was made only in the case of Siddharth Sahib Singh Verma.

Sharma has also written to the DDCA President Rohan Jaitley about the matter.
