Delhi dominate Women’s T10 National Deaf Cricket Championship

Delhi emerged victorious in two games, while Kerala, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh each secured one win on opening day

Team Delhi started their campaign at the national championship organised by the Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) with two consecutive wins over Punjab, and the host team Uttar Pradesh, demonstrating incredible form and resolve right from the beginning.

The five-day tournament held at the KD Singh Babu Stadium, Lucknow from April 5 to 9, 2025 that saw participation from 10 teams, was formally inaugurated with a grand ceremony, graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Charu Chowdhary, Upadhyaksh, Rajya Mahila Ayog, Uttar Pradesh.

Joining her were several distinguished Guests of Honour, including Komal Swarup Agarwal from Md Icon Pvt. Ltd; Urvashi Sahni, renowned educationalist, and Founder Director & CEO of Prerna Girls School; Vandita Agarwal, Chairperson of FICCI FLO, Lucknow Chapter.

Snehlata Sandil, Executive CSR, NTPC; Safina Khan, Honourable Tournament Brand Ambassador; and Suman Singh from APCO Infratech Pvt. Ltd. Prominent entrepreneur VV Singh also marked his presence at the event.

The dignitaries appreciated IDCA's efforts in promoting inclusive sports and empowering women sportspersons. They emphasised the importance of creating more platforms for specially-abled athletes to showcase their talent and contribute to nation-building through sports. Their presence also reflected a growing commitment to fostering inclusivity and supporting the aspirations of specially-abled athletes across India.

Throughout the championship, teams from Maharashtra, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, and several other states showcased exceptional sportsmanship and skill. On the final day, Maharashtra triumphed over Andhra Pradesh with an impressive 57-run victory. Maharashtra’s Needa Zabi was named Player of the Match for her remarkable all-round performance, scoring 50 runs and taking two wickets.

A total of five matches were held on the concluding day of the championship. Delhi emerged victorious in two games, while Kerala, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh each secured one win. The ‘Player of the Match’ title in each game was accompanied by a cash prize, presented by Sumit Jain, President of the Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA), and facilitated by ADCP Uttar Pradesh, Manisha.
