Digvesh Rathi spell powers LSG to win in IPL 2025

Whereas other bowlers like Shardul Thakur (1/40), Akash Deep (1/46), Avesh Khan (1/40) and Ravi Bishnoi (0/40) leaked either at 10 or above, Rathi returned with figures of 1/21, conceding just 5.25 runs an over

Leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi produced a spell that stood out amid the run-conceding ones by other bowlers as he helped Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 12 runs in an Indian Premier League match at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

LSG had scored 203/8 in 20 overs with Mitchell Marsh (60 off 31 balls, 9x4s, 2x6s) and Aiden Markram (53 off 38 balls, 2x4s, 4x6s) adding 76 for the first wicket in seven overs. Ayush Badoni chipped in with 30 off 19 balls while David Miller scored 27 off 14 balls.

Hardik Pandya picked 5/36 in his four overs.

Mumbai Indians lost their openers early, with just 17 on the board but then Naman Dhir (46 off 24 balls), Suryakumar Yadav (67 off 43 balls) and Tilak Varma (25 off 23 balls) brought them back into play.

However, they could never get out of hand largely due to the tight bowling of Rathi. Whereas other bowlers like Shardul Thakur (1/40), Akash Deep (1/46), Avesh Khan (1/40) and Ravi Bishnoi (0/40) leaked either at 10 or above, Rathi returned with figures of 1/21, conceding just 5.25 runs an over to keep MI at bay.

MI were restricted to 191/5 in 20 overs.

The win helped LSG move to sixth in points table. MI are seventh in the table.
