New Delhi: Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MEL Training & Assessments Limited, the parent company of Maya Academy of Advanced Creativity (MAAC), to introduce university degree programmes for India's fast-growing creative industry.
The partnership aims to integrate industry-oriented training with recognised higher education. Under the agreement, MAAC will develop the curriculum and facilitate industry placements, while DSEU will provide academic infrastructure, conduct examinations and award university degrees. The programmes will be aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) and the National Credit Framework (NCrF).
Announcing the initiative, Delhi Education, Higher Education and Training & Technical Education Minister Ashish Sood unveiled three measures to strengthen the capital's creative economy.
The first is the DSEU–MAAC degree partnership, which will offer Class 12 graduates an industry-focused, university-recognised pathway into careers in animation, visual effects, gaming, comics and extended reality (AVGC-XR).
The second is the National Film & Design Hackathon, a practical "Learn by Doing" programme that aims to train 20,000 Delhi students free of cost through creative competitions focused on media and design.
The third initiative is the formation of the Delhi Creators & AVGC-XR Federation, an apex industry body comprising more than 300 professionals from the animation, gaming and technology sectors. The federation will assist the Delhi government in framing policies to support the growth of the creative industry.
The initiatives are aligned with the Government of India's vision of promoting the AVGC-XR sector as a key sunrise industry. With the sector projected to witness sustained double-digit growth and demand for a large skilled workforce by 2030, the new programmes seek to equip students with industry-relevant skills while expanding opportunities in the creative economy.
