Engineering Department lifts Railway Inter-Departmental competition

As many as 15 departmental teams participated in the competition under the aegis of Northern Railway Sports Association

The Engineering Department defeated Accounts Department in the final to win the first inter-departmental Railways cricket competition that was conducted at New Delhi's Karnail Singh Stadium from June 9 to June 15.

As many as 15 departmental teams participated in the competition under the aegis of Northern Railway Sports Association.

In the league stage of the competition, the Engineering Department defeated the RPF team by 139 runs in a one-sided match. In this match, Ravindra of the Engineering Department scored 203 runs. His innings included 18 fours and 18 sixes. These runs came off just 68 balls. Ravindra, who was the Man of the Match for this game, was also declared Man of the Series.

The final between the Engineering Department and Accounts Department was a thrilling contest. Ravindra played an unmatched innings of 70 runs in the final and also took four wickets.

During the prize distribution, Olympic bronze medalist Sakshi Malik and PCCM Narsingh honoured the players by giving medals and trophies.

The role of umpire in the tournament was played by BCCI umpire Karan Thakur, Neeraj Sharma, UPCA state panel umpire Narayan Gupta. Rajesh Gothwal and Rahul Saraswal were the scorers. Secretary of North Railway Sports Association Kaustubh Mani and President Narsingh played an important role in making the competition successful.
