New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has removed Grade A+ in the players' contract list for the 2025-26 season and have included only three players in Grade A.

Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja find their names in Grade A as the trio play all three formats of the game. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who were part of Grade A+ have been demoted to Grade B as the duo play only the ODIs. Grade B includes 11 players while Grade C includes 16 players.

It should be recalled that Grade A+ last season included four players -- Bumrah, Kohli, Rohit and Jadeja. The annual retainership for Grade A+ was Rs 7 crore. Grade A players get Rs 5 crore, Grade B Rs 3 crore and Grade C is Rs 1 crore.

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces the Annual Player Contracts for Team India Senior Men and Senior Women for the 2025-26 season (October 1st, 2025 to September 30th, 2026)," the Indian cricket board said in a statement.

Axar Patel, who has played all three formats for India in the 2025-26 season, has been surprisingly kept in Grade C and not even Grade B.
