Leh, Ladakh: Captain Urgain Samstan and Chamba Tsetan set the tone for Day 10 of the Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League Season 3 at the Nawang Dorjay Stobdan (NDS) Stadium in Leh, scoring hat-tricks as Changthang Shans registered the day’s opening win.
Organised in partnership with the UT Administration of Ladakh and the Ice Hockey Association of Ladakh, the day also featured the season’s first draw in the women’s competition, while Purig Warriors and Shakar Chiktan Royals recorded important victories.
The action opened with an all-Changthang clash between Changthang Shans and Changla Blasters, where the Shans cruised to an emphatic 11–3 win. Changla made a lightning start through Stanzin Nurboo, but the Shans quickly took control, led by hat-tricks from Urgain Samstan and Chamba Tsetan. Additional goals from Phuntsog Namgyal, Rigzen Namgyal, Rigzen Chosphel and Tsering Nurboo sealed the result. The win lifted Changthang Shans two places up the points table, while Changla Blasters dropped one position.
Kargil-based Purig Warriors followed up with a commanding 8–1 victory over Zanskar Chadar Tamers. Captain Sajjad Hussain struck twice early to set the tempo, with Zakir Hussain and Sarfaraz Hussain extending the lead. Answar Hussain starred with a hat-trick in the third period as Purig comfortably closed out the game. Jigmath Kunzong scored a late consolation for the Tamers. The result saw Purig Warriors move up one spot on the table, while Zanskar slipped down.
The women’s fixture between Shakar Chiktan Queens and Drass-based Humas Queens ended in a 1–1 draw, the first tie of the season. Maqsuma Akhter put Humas ahead late in the first period, before Shakar captain Nissa Khatoon equalised early in the second. Both sides held firm thereafter, with Shakar moving up one place on the standings and Humas retaining their position.
Sham Wolves edged United Nubra 3–2 in a closely fought contest. Jigmet Choter opened the scoring early for the Wolves, but Nubra levelled before the break through Tashi Chotak. Sham regained control in the second period with goals from Rigzen Dorjey and captain Stanzin Chosphel. United Nubra reduced the deficit in the third, but the Wolves held on to climb two places on the points table.
Shakar Chiktan Royals closed the day with a narrow 3–2 win over Kharu Falcons. Goals from Asgar Ali and Ali Akbar gave the Royals an early advantage before Kharu fought back to level the contest. Ashiq Hussain struck late in the third period to seal the win, keeping Shakar Chiktan Royals inside the top four.
