Hope you haven't thrown your IPL complimentary pass away

The fate of those who had acquired complimentary passes for the May 11 suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) suspended match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi has been reduced to their own doing. Their passes will be eligible for the rescheduled May 18 match between the two teams.

However, if they have torn it and thrown it away thinking that the IPL will not resume then they will be barred entry.

"We are ensuring that those who had bought tickets for the May 11 game are still eligible to enter the stadium for the May 18 match even if they have thrown their ticket away. They can produce the email copy if they have thrown away the ticket," says Ashok Sharma, the secretary of the Delhi and District Cricket Association.

"For those who have received complimentary pass, they will be eligible to enter and watch the match if they still have that pass. But if they have thrown it away and cannot produce it, then they will not be allowed to enter."

There had been concerns over entry among those who held tickets and passes for the May 11 match.

While this decision by DDCA, as explained by Ashok Sharma, has made things clear, it may still cause confusion.

The DDCA wouldn't know the number of complimentary passes that people will produce as no one knows how many have thrown them away or how many have retained it.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decision to suspend IPL came on the afternoon of May 9 and one wonders how many complimentary passes were issued by then.

The May 11 match was supposed to be the last match in Delhi. However, according to the new schedule, Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium has got two matches in addition to the rescheduled Gujarat Titans vs Delhi Daredevils joust, which will now be held on May 18.
