Delhi pace bowler Harshit Rana, who has represented India under-19s, was picked as replacement for Shivam Dube for India’s tour of Zimbabwe for the first two of the five T20 Internationals.
Rana, who represents Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL, will be joined by Sai Sudharshan and Jitesh Sharma for the first two games.
The trio is replacing Dube, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal, whose arrival from the West Indies, where India won the T20 World Cup, has been delayed due to a hurricane that forced the airport at Barbados to shut down.
“The Men’s Selection Committee has named Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana as replacements for Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe,” said a statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
“Originally slated to join the Zimbabwe-bound squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series starting Saturday, 6th July, the trio will travel to India first with the rest of the ICC T20 World Cup-winning Indian squad before departing for Harare,” added the statement.
Rana has played seven first-class games, picking 28 wickets. He has also played 14 List A games (non-international one-dayers) picking 22 wickets and 25 T20s taking 28 scalps.
