Delhi State Sub-Junior Swimming Championships 2026 inaugurated

More than 250 swimmers from various districts of Delhi and affiliated clubs are participating in this two-day competition. The event is also considered significant for the selection of the Delhi team for upcoming national competitions

New Delhi: The 60th Delhi State Sub-Junior Swimming Championships 2026, organised by the Ad-hoc Committee of the Delhi Swimming Association, kicked off on Saturday at the swimming pool complex of the Government Co-ed Senior Secondary School in Mangolpuri.

S Sunil, Deputy Director (Sports) of the Delhi Government, inaugurated the championship as the chief guest. Encouraging the athletes on this occasion, he remarked that sports serve as a powerful medium for fostering discipline, dedication, and a spirit of healthy competition. He extended his best wishes to all participating swimmers for an excellent performance and inspired them to bring glory to Delhi and the nation by excelling at national and international levels.

SR Sahu, Chairman of the Delhi Swimming Association's Ad-hoc Committee, and Rajkumar, Vice President of the Swimming Federation of India, were also present at the event. Encouraging the young swimmers, they noted that such competitions provide an excellent platform for budding talent to showcase their capabilities.

In the 400-metre freestyle event held on the first day of the competition, Samrat Rathi from Modern School, Barakhamba, secured the first position. Darsh Sangwan from Birla Vidya Niketan finished second, while Madhav secured the third position.

The championship will conclude on July 12, 2026, with the remaining events across various age categories taking place.
