New Delhi: The BCCI Men’s Selection Committee on Sunday announced a 15-member Indian squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal missing out despite his impressive century in the recently concluded series against Afghanistan.

India have retained a largely experienced core for the high-profile contest, with Shubman Gill continuing as captain and senior batter Rohit Sharma included in the squad. Former captain Virat Kohli has also been named, although his participation remains subject to fitness clearance.

Jaiswal’s omission is one of the most notable decisions taken by the selectors. The left-handed opener had ended the Afghanistan series on a high note with a century in the third and final ODI, but the performance was not enough to earn him a place against England. The selectors have instead backed a combination featuring Gill and Rohit at the top, while maintaining depth in the middle order and all-round department.

Shreyas Iyer has been appointed vice-captain of the side and is expected to play a key role in the middle order alongside wicketkeeper-batters KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan. The squad also includes all-rounders Washington Sundar, Axar Patel and Nitish Kumar Reddy, providing balance in both batting and bowling departments.

India's spin attack will be spearheaded by Kuldeep Yadav, while the pace unit features experienced campaigner Jasprit Bumrah alongside Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar.

The selectors have also provided an update on mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence after sustaining a left-foot injury during the 2026 Indian Premier League season. The board confirmed that Chakravarthy is in the final stages of his recovery but has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Ireland.

The England ODI series is expected to serve as another important assignment for India as they continue to build a settled combination ahead of future international commitments. With several senior players returning to the fold and competition for places intensifying, the series will offer opportunities for players to strengthen their claims in the national setup.

India ODI squad: Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (Vice-Captain), KL Rahul (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar.

India’s updated squad for Ireland T20Is: Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma (Vice-Captain), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Prasidh Krishna.
