New Delhi: In a landmark celebration of environmental sustainability, Delhi Technological University (DTU) in collaboration with Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) commemorated IPCA’s 24th Foundation Day at the Dr BR Ambedkar Auditorium, Delhi Technological University (DTU).
The event marked over two decades of IPCA’s transformative contributions toward sustainable waste management, waste worker upliftment, and community engagement towards environmental sustainability; and 27 years of DTU’s excellence in teaching and research in Environmental Science & Engineering.
The ceremony was graced by Anshul Sirohi, Deputy Commissioner, Civil Lines Zones, MCD, Professor Prateek Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU, alongside eminent policymakers, academicians, industry representatives, environmental leaders, researchers, and students from various disciplines.
The event featured a theatrical performance titled “Maine Ki Shuruwat Hai”, which emphasised the importance of individual responsibility in achieving environmental sustainability, inspiring people to take ownership rather than rely on others to drive change.
As part of the ceremony, IPCA unveiled its new organizational logo commemorating its 25th anniversary.
Ajay Garg, Secretary, IPCA, also launched the Sustainable Calendar 2025 as Sustainable Achievable Goals (SAGs) by IPCA — a year-long roadmap featuring sustainable initiatives aimed at comprehensive environmental conservation.
Radha Goyal, Deputy Director, IPCA, announced a series of innovative sustainability initiatives aimed at uniting environmental enthusiasts and recognizing their conscious efforts through meaningful rewards.
The highlight of the event was a plantation drive, during which 2,500 saplings were planted in the DTU campus by eminent policymakers, academicians, industry representatives, environmental leaders, researchers, and students. The initiative was undertaken to plant such species of trees along the roads that will act as sound barrier and as natural tree fence. Medicinal as well as decorative tree species were also planted at various locations within DTU.
Prateek Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU, congratulated IPCA on its remarkable journey and said, “IPCA’s consistent work over the past two decades stands as an inspiring model of how academia, industry, and civil society can collaborate for a greener future. I extend my best wishes to the entire IPCA team as they continue to nurture a culture of sustainability and responsibility for generations to come.”
Ashish Jain, Founder and Director of IPCA, shared his vision, saying, “Sustainability is not just about managing today’s waste, it’s about creating an environment we can proudly pass on to our future generations. Working for environmental protection requires patience, commitment, and a sense of shared responsibility. Together, we must build a future where every action counts toward a cleaner, greener planet.”
