New Delhi: Essex Farms Cricket Club pulled off a sensational five-wicket victory over Delhi Blues Cricket Club in the sixth match of the opening round of the Tyagmurti Goswami Ganesh Dutt 40-over match played at the SGTB Khalsa College grounds on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Chasing a daunting target of 309, Essex Farm reached the total in just 29.4 overs with five wickets in hand in a high-scoring encounter.
After winning the toss, Essex Farms skipper Krish Yadav opted to bowl. Batting first in the 40-over contest, Delhi Blues Cricket Club posted an imposing 308 for eight, courtesy of brilliant knocks from Salil Malhotra and Shreshth Yadav.
Salil Malhotra anchored the innings with a fluent 110 off 104 balls, while Shreshth Yadav played an explosive knock of 100 from just 66 deliveries. Vaibhav Sood also chipped in with a quickfire 42 off 33 balls to help Delhi Blues cross the 300-run mark.
For Essex Farms Cricket Club, Ashish Meena was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 for 53, while Harsh Bhardwaj claimed two wickets despite conceding 73 runs.
In reply, Essex Farms Cricket Club produced a batting masterclass to overhaul the target comfortably. Kavya Gupta starred with a blistering 133 off just 73 balls, while Dweep Gehlot smashed 73 from only 26 deliveries to put the chase firmly in Essex Farm’s control. Ashish Tanwar added a handy 27 off 16 balls as the side completed the chase at 309 for five.

Delhi Blues bowlers failed to contain the aggressive batting display, with Arun Pundir returning figures of two for 66 and Manish Yadav taking one wicket for 39 runs. The emphatic win ensured Essex Farm Cricket Club advanced with momentum after one of the most thrilling matches of the tournament so far.
In another game, played on Sunday, Young Friends Cricket Club registered a commanding 153-run victory over S.B. Youth Cricket Club.
After winning the toss, S.B. Youth skipper Karan Kashyap elected to bowl. Batting first in the 40-over encounter, Young Friends Cricket Club piled an imposing 308 for seven in their allotted overs.

Parth Kumar Bali led the charge with a blazing 87 off 60 balls, while Daksh Dral contributed a solid 70 from 54 deliveries. Deep Thakur added the finishing touches with a quickfire 45 off just 18 balls, helping Young Friends set a daunting target of 309 runs.
For S.B. Youth Cricket Club, Yazur emerged as the most successful bowler with figures of 3 for 50.
In reply, S.B. Youth Cricket Club struggled against a disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for 155 in 31.2 overs. Captain Karan Kashyap top-scored with 39 off 73 balls, while Kartikeya Nodiyal chipped in with 30 from 26 deliveries, but the rest of the batting line-up failed to build partnerships.
Deep Thakur starred with the ball as well, returning impressive figures of 4 for 15. N. Pal claimed two wickets, while Achintya also made valuable contributions with the ball to dismantle the opposition batting order.
The comprehensive win gave Young Friends Cricket Club a strong start to their campaign in the tournament.
