New Delhi: Cricket Academy of Narwal emerged victors in the semi-final of the 3rd Kalpana Chawla Memorial Cricket Tournament, defeating Rohtak Road Gymkhana by 98 runs at the Gargi College Ground on Saturday to secure their place in the final against Rann Star Cricket Club.
Batting first on Saturday, Cricket Academy of Narwal were dismissed for 192, with Aradhana Bisht scoring 63 off 63 balls, hitting six fours and a six. Nishu Singh made 51 off 60 with eight boundaries.
Suman Sandhu struck 42 off 34 balls at a strike rate of 123.5, before falling to Priya Mishra's bowling.
Together the trio scored 156 out of 192 while the remaining seven batters added just 36 runs between them. The innings included three ducks and was wrapped up in 36.5 overs.
Rohtak Road Gymkhana bowlers put up a strong fight with Mahi Chauhan taking four wickets for 42 runs in 6.5 overs and Sumiti Soni giving Narwal almost nothing, returning with an economy rate of 3.7.
Rohtak Road's chase began on the wrong note. Janvi Sharma was dismissed for one, Ananya Pahuja was out for zero on the first ball she faced. It was a tough chase from thereon.

Kusum was the top-scorer for the team, making 38 off 51 balls with five fours while Jyoti scored 22 off 45 balls. Narwal bowlers Jaanni (economy rate of 2.1) and Suman Sandhu (1.8), together conceded just 26 runs across 13 overs, giving Rohtak Road almost no room to play.
The game ended with Rita taking the last wicket in the 31st over with Rohtak Road folding for just 94.
In the Delhi June heat, both the teams gave their best effort to make it to the final. At the innings break, Priya Mishra, who made her Women's ODI debut for India in 2024, was confident and said "Jeet Jayenge". But her team fell short by 98 runs. Shruti Singh, Suman Sandhu and Jaanni picked two wickets each.
For the players on both sides, the match was more than just about winning - it was women wearing white, using the red ball and playing 40 overs.
