Priya Sachdev Kapur’s reluctance raises alarming questions over disputed Will in Delhi High Court

The first and most crucial application pertained to the inspection and forensic verification of the original Will filed in court

New Delhi: In a revealing turn during Tuesday’s proceedings before the Joint Registrar of the Delhi High Court, several key applications came up for consideration — one in particular exposing what appears to be deliberate resistance by Priya Sachdev Kapur in the ongoing succession dispute.

The first and most crucial application pertained to the inspection and forensic verification of the original Will filed in court.

The Plaintiffs have sought this inspection to determine the document’s authenticity. Yet, it is Priya Sachdev Kapur, the very person staking her claim on the basis of this Will, who stands firmly opposed to such verification.

This stance is baffling and deeply suspicious. If Priya Sachdev Kapur truly believes the Will is authentic, why obstruct a forensic examination — a transparent process that would conclusively validate its genuineness?

“Her opposition does not inspire confidence; instead, it raises pressing questions about her motives and the integrity of the document she defends so aggressively. The resistance appears less about protecting truth and more about concealing it,” said a lawyer representing the plaintiffs.

The second key development concerns Shradha Suri Marwah’s request to amend her Written Statement.

Notably, inconsistencies have surfaced between the statements filed by Marwah and Kapur — two co-defendants whose claims are supposed to align. After these discrepancies came to light, Marwah sought to alter her statement, apparently to synchronise her version with Kapur’s. The Plaintiffs have duly objected, pointing to what seems like an afterthought correction designed to fit a convenient narrative.

The matter is now scheduled to be heard again on January 20, 2026 before the Joint Registrar. But what transpired on Tuesday leaves little doubt that beneath the legal formalities lies a battle not just over inheritance — but over credibility, truth, and the lengths some will go to protect a contested claim.
