RP Cricket Academy girls lift Kalpana Chawla Tournament

The winning team, that is RP Academy got a cheque for Rs 30,000 and the runners-up Bal Bhawan got a cheque of Rs 20,000

The RP Cricket Academy defeated Bal Bhawan by 150 runs in the final of the second Kalpana Chawla Women's Cricket Tournament at the Siri Fort Cricket Grounds in Khel Gaon in New Delhi on Sunday evening.

The winning team, that is RP Academy got a cheque for Rs 30,000 and the runners-up team got a cheque of Rs 20,000.

Amanjeet Kaur of RP Cricket Academy was adjudged the Best Bowler of the tournament, while Sanchi Grover won the award for the Best Batsman. Woman of the Series, an award equivalent to Man of the Series in men's cricket, went to Nazma Khan of RP Cricket Academy. Tanishka, also of RP Cricket Academy was declared the Best wicketkeeper of the tournament.

Each of the three individual award winners got Rs 5,100 as award.

The tournament, which was an open tournament played with SG Test balls and organised by Fairway FairPlay Trust, featured 15 matches of 40 overs. As many as eight teams participated in it.

IPS officer Rakesh Paweriya, a DDCA member who contested the elections last year, supervised the tournament.

Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament from Northeast Delhi, presided over the function and handed over prizes and souvenirs to winners and scores of club secretaries and DDCA members.
