Sandiksha, SSB Wives Welfare Association, organises interactive session on millets for healthy lifestyle

Sandiksha, the SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) Wives Welfare Association, organised a significant interactive session in Delhi on Monday on the topic “Use of Millets for a Healthy Lifestyle”.

The event was graced by Padma Shri Awardee and renowned food and health expert, Dr Khader Valli Dudekula, who shared valuable thought about millets (also known as Shri Anna). The interactive session focussed on the health benefits of millets (Shri Anna) and its role in promoting overall well-being.

Dr Dudekula emphasised on the importance of incorporating millets into daily diets. He highlighted how millets not only enhance health but also help to prevent various lifestyle-related diseases. He encouraged SSB personnel and their family members present at the event to include millets in their meals for a healthier future. All formations of SSB attended the interactive session through Video Conferencing. Approximately 750 personnel and family members attended the programme in person, while over 7,000 participated virtually.

Sandiksha Parivar remains dedicated to the health and welfare of SSB personnel, women personnel and their families. In pursuit of this mission, the association organises various welfare programs, including free health camps, distribution of relief material to the needy, provision of study materials to orphanages, distribution of tricycles to differently-abled individuals and several other initiatives.

Currently, 95 Sandiksha Parivar are actively working across various SSB units nationwide. These units not only support the well-being of SSB personnel and their families but also play a vital role in empowering local women and children. Additionally, Sandiksha has made significant contributions to disaster relief efforts in Nepal and Bhutan.

Sandiksha President, Shikha Prasad, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dr Dudekula for his valuable insights. She also thanked all officers, personnel and Sandiksha members for their contributions in making the interactive session a success. She reaffirmed Sandiksha’s commitment to organising similar awareness programmes in the future to promote a healthy lifestyle and community welfare.

The event was also attended by Anupama Nilekar Chandra, IPS, ADG, Somit Joshi, IG (Admn.), Manoj Kumar, DIG (Admn.) Shri Sunil Kumar, Commandant, 25th Battalion, Shri Shankar Singh, Commandant (Welfare) along with other SSB personnel and their family members.
