New Delhi: Not content with just being ousted in the league phase, the Delhi Ranji Trophy team put yet another insipid show, conceding points on the first innings lead against Chhattisgarh in their sixth match of the season.

On a green top, Delhi were bowled out for 216 which in fact was a decent score considering that they were precariously placed at 63/5 and then at 119/9.

Left-handed batsman Ayush Doseja turned out to be Delhi's saviour as he scored 104 not out to take the team beyond the 200-run mark. He was supported by pace bowler Money Grewal, who made 35 and added 97 for the last wicket with the Ravi Brothers' batsman.

Unfortunately, any hopes of a miracle were gone as Chhattisgarh openers, batting at home in Raipur, added 212 for the first wicket. Delhi selectors' decision to bring back Siddhant Sharma did not pay any dividends. Other bowlers like Grewal, Divij Mehra and pace bowling all-rounder Rohan Rana also struggled as the Chhattisgarh batsmen crossed 250-run lead for the loss of just three wickets.

By the time the Delhi bowlers began taking wickets, Chhattisgarh had built their lead further and taken the match away from the visitors. Sumit Mathur picked 3/94, Money Grewal 2/47 and Divij Mehra 2/65.

Ayush Doseja scored 104 and 129 in the match against Chhattisgarh

Once again, Ayush Badoni had to bowl 25 overs for 1/81 and Vaibhav Kandpal 17 overs for his 1/74. This showed the dearth of spin bowlers in Delhi. Siddhant Sharma went wicketless in his spell of 20 overs. He returned with 0/51.

Delhi made 422 in the second innings. Ayush Doseja once again starred with 129, making centuries in both innings. Priyansh Arya hit 82 and Ayush Badoni 68.

It will be interesting to see what side Delhi will dish out when they face Mumbai in their last encounter from January 29 at the Bandra-Kurla Complex Ground in Mumbai. The 16-member team picked for the Chhattisgarh match has reached Mumbai.
