New Delhi: If you were to hear that a team has scored 624 runs in an innings, you'd be pardoned if you think that it is during a multi-day game. Well, this score was notched by Bal Bhawan Cricket Academy, Dwarka, in a one-day game on Tuesday (April 28) during the ongoing Laxman Dass Chhabra Memorial Cricket Tournament underway at the St Stephen's College Ground.

Delhi under-23 batsman Yash Bhatia hammered 182 off 79 balls (17x4s, 14x6s) while all-rounder and Bal Bhawan captain Dev Lakra hit 105 off 46 balls (5x4s, 11x6s). Musaif Ajaz scored 102 off 36 balls (8x4s, 8x6s) as the team batted first and piled 624/7 in their allotted 40 overs. Arpit Rana (62) and Yajas R. Sharma (69) also made valuable contributions to the huge total.

In response, Bhawani Youth Cricket Academy folded for 361 in 31 overs. Vansh Mehra led the fightback with 113 off 43 balls (15x4s, 7x6s), while Mayank (65) and Ankit Pratap Singh (56) also chipped in with useful runs. For Bal Bhawan Dwarka, Suryakant Chauhan picked four wickets for 91 runs, while Prince claimed two wickets for 51 runs. Neel Mani Kumar also impressed with the ball, taking four wickets for 116 runs.

The match witnessed a staggering total of 985 runs, the highest in the tournament history. Bhatia was adjudged Player of the Match.

Bal Bhawan is one of the premier academies of Delhi with several players representing Delhi at various levels.

"I am quite thrilled at the team's record and the fact that I played a key role in it (record total)," said Bhatia after the match.
