New Delhi: India and Netherlands played their second match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup against each other on June 17, 2026 at Headingley, Leeds.

This was India's second win, following their 64-run win over Pakistan, and turned out to be Netherlands's second loss. Put into bat after losing the toss, India made 209/5, their highest yet and then bowled Netherlands out in 17.3 overs.

The opening salvo

The opening stand by Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma, put on 115 runs together. Mandhana's 74 off 47 balls accompanied by eleven fours and a six was the standout performance of the day while Verma scored 55 off 38 balls. Richa Ghosh provided the late innings energy, as she finished on 20 not out off eight balls striking two sixes and a four. Accompanied by Deepti Sharma, they pushed the total to 209/5 in the final over.

Praiseworthy bowling

Shree Charani led the bowling with taking four wickets for 19, with three in the same over. She continuously broke partnerships. Shafali Verma, after her 55 with the bat, took three wickets for 20 runs, including two in a single over.

The strong bowling continued with Nandani Sharma taking two wickets for 22 runs and Deepti Sharma with one for 26.

However, Shreyanka Patil twisted her right ankle in the fifth over. She bowled her first ball in the game, and injured herself after running towards mid-on to stop the ball. Shafali Verma completed the over in her place. Patil, who has had multiple injuries was taken for scans.

In this match Yastika Bhatia was the only soft spot with the bat, making just three off four balls before being stumped. But with Mandhana, Verma, Ghosh, Rodrigues (19) and Harmanpreet (12) all contributing, this was a minor obstacle.

A different story for the Netherlands

Heather Siegers made 21 off 16 balls, with four 4s and along with Phebe Molkenboer put on 34 runs for the first wicket. Babette de Leede was the standout Dutch batter, top-scoring with 28 off 27 balls across two partnerships.

After Sterre Kalis fell in the 12th over, Netherlands lost their last seven wickets rather fast.

In the second half of their bowling, Zwilling went for 19 in a single over during her second spell, and Netherlands leaked 14 wides throughout the innings. And as for the boundaries, Netherlands just managed to make fifteen fours and no sixes, compared to India's 27 fours and four sixes.

India’s 95 run win has taken them to the top of Group 1, with two wins from the two games that they have played so far. Smriti Mandhana was awarded the Player of the Match. Meanwhile, Netherlands continue to be winless.
