New Delhi: Delhi BJP General Secretary and Member of Parliament Yogendra Chandolia on Saturday said the Union Budget 2026 would significantly boost Delhi’s urban development, with special emphasis on strengthening the construction sector through support for private builders.
Speaking on the budget presented at Kartavya Bhavan, Chandolia said the Centre’s decision to provide a security cover for loans extended to private builders would accelerate construction activity in Delhi and other urban centres. He noted that builders adopting new development models would now find it easier to access institutional finance, leading to faster project execution, improved infrastructure and increased employment generation.
Chandolia said the budget’s focus on construction, tourism, pilgrimage site development and medical tourism would have a direct positive impact on Delhi’s economy. He added that enhanced support for the construction industry would not only boost real estate and allied sectors but also create large-scale job opportunities for skilled and unskilled workers.
Highlighting provisions related to medical tourism, Chandolia said the initiative would strengthen healthcare services, particularly for senior citizens, while generating thousands of jobs in the medical and support services sectors. He also pointed out that the growth of the hotel industry, development of pilgrimage destinations and emphasis on cultural preservation would further contribute to employment and urban renewal.
The BJP leader described the budget as youth-friendly, citing measures promoting sports, start-ups and employment in emerging sectors. He welcomed the announcement of a new Income Tax Act to be implemented from April 1, 2026, stating that the absence of new taxes would provide relief to the middle class.
Chandolia also noted that incentives for foreign data service companies, tax relief on smartphones and reduced customs duty on medicines for cancer and other serious diseases reflected the government’s development-oriented and people-centric approach.
