New Delhi: India's Commonwealth Games campaign suffered a setback after judoka Arun Kumar, who had been selected in the men's 73kg category, tested positive for a banned substance and was ruled out of the Glasgow Games.

Judo Federation of India (JFI) president Mukesh Kumar confirmed the development, saying Arun would not travel with the Indian contingent after returning a positive dope test.

The exact substance for which the 73kg judoka tested positive was not immediately known.

Arun had earned selection to India's Commonwealth Games squad in the 73kg weight category and was set to represent the country in Glasgow. Following the adverse analytical finding, however, he has been withdrawn from the squad.

It was not immediately clear whether a replacement would be named or whether disciplinary proceedings had been initiated against the athlete. Further details are awaited from the JFI and the relevant anti-doping authorities.
