Mohammed Siraj's seven-wicket haul and centuries from Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel help India pummel Windies in three days

Ahmedabad: Mohammed Siraj’s match of 7/71, Ravindra Jadeja’s century and match haul of 4/69 as well as a ton from Dhruv Jurel helped India thrash West Indies by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test.
The strong performance by India against an insipid West Indies ensured the Test ended in three days.
The second and final Test will begin on October 10 in New Delhi.
The result continued a sorry state of affairs for the Caribbean team -- they have not won a single Test against India since 2002. The result in West Indies’ last five Tests reveals the struggle they have endured – losing four of them by an innings and one by 10 wickets.
Jadeja was adjudged Player of the Match and this is his 10th such award at home – the most by an Indian. He surpassed Anil Kumble who had nine Player of the Match Awards for India.
West Indies were bowled out for 162 in 44.1 overs and in response India scored 448/5 in 128 overs.
West Indies folded for 146 in 45.1 overs in their second innings.
While India had three centuries – by KL Rahul, Jadeja and Jurel – in the Test, West Indies could not even produce a fifty.
