New Delhi: The National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi, has launched its much-anticipated Summer Workshop 2026, offering children and young art enthusiasts an opportunity to explore their creativity through a wide range of artistic disciplines. The workshop, currently underway at the New Wing of NGMA, will continue until June 16, attracting enthusiastic participation from budding artists across the city.

Designed to foster imagination, artistic expression and cultural appreciation, the workshop features age-specific batches and a variety of hands-on activities, including painting, printmaking, portraiture, sculpture, Pichwai art and creative theatre. Participants are being guided by experienced instructors and art professionals, enabling them to experiment with different techniques and forms of artistic expression in an engaging learning environment.

The programme has been structured to provide both skill development and creative exploration. Painting sessions are being conducted from June 3 to June 8, while printmaking workshops are scheduled from June 2 to June 8. Portraiture and theatre activities are being held throughout the duration of the workshop, while sculpture sessions will run from June 6 to June 12 and Pichwai art workshops from June 8 to June 14.

Continuing its commitment to making art education accessible, NGMA is providing all necessary art materials to participating students, ensuring that young learners can fully immerse themselves in the creative process without any additional burden.

The initiative has been conceptualised under the guidance of Dr. Sanjeev Kishor Goutam, Director General, who has been actively promoting programmes aimed at strengthening cultural engagement and artistic learning among the younger generation.

Speaking about the workshop, Dr. Goutam said that art has the ability to inspire imagination, nurture individuality and connect young minds with culture and creativity. He noted that the Summer Workshop 2026 seeks to provide a meaningful platform where participants can freely explore their artistic potential while engaging with diverse art forms in an inspiring environment.

The workshop has emerged as an interactive learning space where participants are discovering new creative dimensions while developing a deeper appreciation for art and culture. Organisers said the response from students and parents has been encouraging, reflecting a growing interest in art-based educational activities during the summer break.

The workshop is being coordinated by Jyoti Tokas and Chandrima Banerjee and is open daily from 11 am to 4 pm at the New Wing of NGMA, New Delhi.
