Shubman Gill named Indian ODI captain

New Delhi: Shubman Gill has been named India's captain for the ODI series against Australia that begins on October 19 after the national selectors decided to remove Rohit Sharma from the post of captaincy.

Shreyas Iyer has been named the vice-captain. Rohit and Virat Kohli find their names in the squad as players.

The message from selectors is clear -- Rohit's place is not guaranteed and he will have to perform to stay in the squad.

The selectors also picked the squad for the five-game T20I series that will be played in November. Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from the ODI series but will feature in the T20 Internationals.

Ravindra Jadeja has been axed from the ODI squad as India will go in with just one left-arm spinner in Axar Patel.
