Delhi walloped Assam by nine wickets in the semi-finals of the Women’s Under 23 T20 Trophy at the KCA Cricket Ground, Mangalapuram, Trivandrum on Monday to cruise into the final.

The win comes after their quarterfinal win against Karnataka, also by nine wickets, and guarantees them a place in the final against Mumbai.

Delhi bowlers dismissed Assam for a paltry 69 in 18.5 overs with Madhu taking 4/10 in four overs. Priya Mishra took 2/19 in three overs.

The target was just too easy as Delhi took their time to reach it in just 14.5 overs with captain Tanisha Singh seeing the team through with 37 not out off 36 balls. Opener and wicketkeeper Pragya Rawat remained unbeaten on 25 off 39 balls.

The quarterfinal win on Saturday was also scripted by the bowlers, who restricted them to 111/9 in 20 overs. Bharti Rawal was the most successful bowler with 3/17 while Madhu and Tanisha took two wickets each.

Opener Pragya Rawat scored unbeaten 62 off 44 balls while Deeksha, the other opener, made 37 off 29 balls. The openers put on 98 for the first wicket in 11.3 overs.

Delhi overhauled the target in 14.3 overs.

Mumbai had beaten Rajasthan by 30 runs in the other semifinal which was also low-scoring suggesting that the pitches have been tough in the knockouts. Mumbai scored 108/8 in 20 overs while Rajasthan finished with 78/7.
