The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) will hold the auction for players for the Delhi Premier League (DPL) on July 6 and 7 at the Durbar Hall at Taj Palace in Chanakyapuri. The auction was initially slated to be held on July 5 but the plan has been changed following discussions with the team owners.
"The auction for men's players will be held on July 6 and for women on July 7," according to a release from DDCA.
There are 520 male players in the fray out of which six have already been retained by the franchises. Two more, that is, one each will be picked by the two new franchises.
Apart from 19 players in the Marquee players' list, the DDCA has placed 35 players in Category A, 105 players in Category B and as many as 361 players in Category C. While four from Marquee list have been retained (Rishabh Pant, Ayush Badoni, Harshit Rana and Anuj Rawat), two from Category A (Ayush Doseja and Jonty Sidhu) have been retained. The two new franchises will name their two players that will be equivalent of retention.
The retention price for Marquee players is Rs 21 lakh, Rs 10 lakh for Category A players, Rs 5 lakh for Category B players and Rs 1.5 lakh for Category C players.
The base price for Marquee players going into the auction is Rs 10 lakh, for Category A players is Rs 5 lakh, for Category B is Rs 3 lakh and for Category C is Rs 1 lakh.
The women's auction also has four categories -- A, B, C and D. While A has seven players, B has 18 players, C has 34 players and D has 96 players. The total number of players in women's auctions will be 155 players although this is subject to change as more players can be added.
