The Delhi Premier League (DPL) franchises are retaining one player each ahead of the auction. The plan initially was to allow each franchise permission to retain four players and employ Right to Match (RTM) card for two other players.
However, the plan changed and the franchises were allowed to retain only one player after two new teams entered the fray taking the number of teams to eight.
According to sources, Purani Dilli 6 are retaining Rishabh Pant, South Delhi Superstarz are retaining Ayush Badoni, North Delhi Strikers are keeping Harshit Rana, West Delhi Lions are holding back Ayush Doseja, Central Delhi Kings are retaining Jonty Sidhu and defending champions East Delhi Riders are holding on to wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat.
Himmat Singh, who led East Delhi Riders to the inaugural DPL title last year, Priyansh Arya, Digvesh Rathi and Nitish Rana, who has returned to Delhi from UP, can be picked by two new teams with the two remaining players going into auction pool.
It should be noted that while Ayush Doseja and Jonty Sidhu are in Category A, the rest of the players mentioned above form part of the 19-player Marquee list.
The retention price for Marquee players is Rs 21 lakh, Rs 10 lakh for Category A players, Rs 5 lakh for Category B players and Rs 1.5 lakh for Category C players.
The DDCA had listed 19 Marquee players, 35 Category A players, 105 Category B players and 361 Category C players in the auction list. Eight of these -- six from Marquee and two from Category A as mentioned above -- are being retained.
The base price for Marquee players going into the auction is Rs 10 lakh, for Category A players is Rs 5 lakh, for Category B is Rs 3 lakh and for Category C is Rs 1 lakh.
The auction of the players were scheduled for July 5 but they have now been moved to July 6 and 7.
