The much-awaited players' auction for the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 will take place on July 5, according to sources in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).
With the inclusion of two more teams in the tournament, which comprised only six teams in the inaugural edition, the pool of players has increased and more players will get an opportunity.
"The players' auction will take place on July 5," said a source aware of the development.
The dates of the tournament are yet to be released. The inclusion of two more franchises has taken the number of teams to eight.
Sources add that each of the six teams will be able to retain either three or four players and employ Right To Match (RTM) cards for two of the players.
The inaugural edition, held at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground of the Arun Jaitley Stadium, was won by East Delhi Riders who beat South Delhi Superstarz in the final in September, 2024.
Apart from East Delhi Riders and South Delhi Superstarz, the league includes Central Delhi Kings, North Delhi Strikers, West Delhi Lions and Purani Dilli 6.
The right to conduct the auction and the league has been awarded to Perfect Pitch, who also successfully conducted the tournament last year.
