Australian pace bowler Mitchell Starc produced an inspired pace bowling spell, picking 5/35 to help Delhi Capitals script a seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in an Indian Premier League 2025 match in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

Starc picked three early wickets, including the prized scalp of Travis Head (22 off 12), which along with the run out of Abhishek Sharma (1), reduced Sunrisers Hyderabad to 37/4 in 4.1 overs.

Aniket Verma (74 off 41 balls, 5x4s, 6x6s) took the team to 163 all out in 18.4 overs. Heinrich Klaasen (32 off 19 balls) also chipped in.

Kuldeep Yadav picked 3/22.

Delhi Capitals then raced to the target in 16 overs. Faf du Plessis (50 off 27 balls, 3x4s, 3x6s) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (38 off 32 balls, 4x4s, 2x6s) added 81 in nine overs to set the platform for the Capitals. It was then an easy stroll in the park for the Capitals to the target. They lost only three wickets, all of which were taken by Lucknow-born leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari.

Neither Mohammed Shami nor Pat Cummins could pick a wicket.

Starc ensured that he didn’t pitch it up to Head and managed to get him with a back-of-the-length delivery.

“I've played for long enough, so I know what to do. You’ve got to think outside the box. As an older player you have to bowl different balls. Glad that worked out,” said Starc.
